Wall Repair | Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury

PRIVATE PROPERTY

Client: Private

Location: Shrewsbury, England

Sector: Domestic

Completion Date: June 2026

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Following significant damage caused by a vehicle collision, TMD Brickwork was appointed to repair and rebuild a traditional brick boundary wall at a private property on Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury.

Due to the age of the wall, preserving its original appearance was a key priority. Our team carefully dismantled the damaged sections, salvaging as many of the original bricks as possible before rebuilding the wall to closely match the existing brickwork and finish.

In addition to reconstructing the damaged wall, we also repaired several rear brick support piers within the garden, carrying out repointing and relaying work where required to restore their strength and appearance.

FROM START TO FINISH - THE VISUAL STORY

OUR APPROACH

To safely complete the repairs, scaffolding was erected to allow the removal of coping stones and access to the damaged sections of the wall. The brickwork was carefully taken down on both sides until only sound, undamaged masonry remained.

Because the garden sat at a different level to the adjoining footpath, some excavation was required to provide safe access for rebuilding. Every effort was made to retain and clean the original bricks, helping achieve the closest possible match when reconstructing the wall.

Once the wall had been rebuilt, the coping stones were reinstated, and the damaged support piers were repaired, leaving the boundary wall fully restored.

THE CHALLENGE

The project presented several logistical challenges that required careful planning:

- The adjacent public footpath had to be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of pedestrians during demolition and rebuilding.
- Traffic management measures and secure fencing were installed to create a safe working environment while also providing privacy for the property owners.
- Trees and overgrown bushes on the garden side of the wall had to be carefully removed to allow access for the repair works.
- Matching the existing brickwork was particularly important due to the age of the wall, making the recovery and reuse of original bricks a key part of the project.

THE RESULT

The completed boundary wall was restored to closely match its original appearance while providing the structural integrity expected of a modern rebuild. By carefully reusing existing materials wherever possible and carrying out sympathetic repairs to the supporting piers, TMD Brickwork delivered a high-quality finish that blended seamlessly with the surrounding property.

The project was completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption, leaving the client with a fully restored boundary wall.
